Apple Asian Pear Detox Smoothie became a main part of my meal plans for this past weekend. I was feeling a little sluggish, I had just got done doing some traveling and had allowed myself to give into temptation and eat some dairy I don’t usually eat. Between the dairy and who knows what might have been in some of the food I ate since we did our share of dining out, even though I did my best to make wise choices. I also have a pile of granny smith apples and asian pears staring me in the face, so naturally that helped out with the detoxing plans.
When I detox I choose smoothies over juicing. Smoothies give you the fiber from the fruits and vegetables that help rid the toxins from your body. Pears act as a magnet, as they move through your system collecting the toxins that you don’t want in your body.
Apples help with digestive disorders and also are high in pectin which helps keep our systems regular. When you add the celery make sure and add some of the leaves too, celery is an anti-inflammatory and a diuretic. Parsley, one of my favorite herbs, it’s more than just a garnish. Parsley is also an anti-inflammatory and high in Vitamins A and C.
I have another trip coming up in a few weeks, and I plan to take my Vitamix with me. I know that may seem like over kill to some of you, but I know that if I have it, and I have vegetables and fruit, I can always make a smoothie for the times when it’s needed.
What are your strategies when you travel to eat clean and healthy? This Apple Asian Pear Detox Smoothie is just one example of a clean and healthy smoothie that has a balance between fruits and greens.
