Blueberry Chard Smoothie, just the right post holiday smoothie flavor. We’ll get to that in a minute. First take a minute to reflect, how were your holidays? Did you survive all the hustle and bustle, the big question is did you Enjoy your holidays? Because I really think that should be the goal is to enjoy friends and family and those special times. Not let all the stress turn the holidays into something we dread. But that’s a whole other blog post. So what’s next, now that it’s 2014?
Well in this house, birthday’s start, the first one is next week. I was remembering today as I looked at the Christmas tree being taken down, how one year we left our tree up and it got redecorated with balloons and such as a birthday tree, funny, good times. Also reflecting, hum, wonder how cool he thought that was, probably not, silly mom.
I figured you all have probably had enough dessert ideas for the holidays so wanted to share another green smoothie to add to your library of smoothie recipes. Do you follow recipes for smoothies or just start tossing things in and hope for the best? I do it both ways, but sometimes tossing and hoping makes for grinning and bearing and drinking a bad smoothie. I’m not one to let something go to waste so I just chug my mistakes down.
Lately I’ve been craving blueberries, so no better way to get them then in a smoothie, although my Baked Oatmeal with Blueberries is pretty darn good, made that for the hubby just this morning. Blueberries is one of my grandson’s favorites, it’s so fun to watch him pick them up and feed himself, they are just his size. He loves green smoothies too, so while he visited over the holiday’s I was happy to make him some. When I make green smoothies I try to keep an even balance between the fruits and the greens, one cup of greens for every fruit. If you’re not too fond of the flavor of the greens, keep it to spinach, you will barely taste it. I used a chard and spinach mix for this smoothie. All fruit and no greens makes for one sugary smoothie. Be adventurous and brave and chug-a-lug.
