There’s nothing like a good burger with some Spicy Whole Grain Mustard. Whether it’s beef, chicken or a veggie burger, Spicy whole grain mustard compliments each one and gives it that extra kick. I’m missing the summer BBQ’s, but this zesty mustard won’t go to waste just because summer is over. Besides the fact that I’ve been known to pull the grill out even after daylight savings time, I can find plenty of uses for this spicy condiment, it’s not just for burgers. Whole grain mustard as an ingredient in salad dressings, marinades, on sandwiches, and in glazes, gives each of these extra flavor and takes them off the charts with a little spiciness. You need a little spice in your life, don’t you?
Making your own mustard might seem a little complex to you, but don’t let it be. Making whole grain mustard is super simple and shouldn’t be intimidating. By making your own it will be free of sodium benzoate, high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors and the likes. Additives and preservatives that I would rather not be putting in my condiments, how about you?
There are so many ingredients in processed condiments that don’t have to be there when you make it yourself. Just another way for you to be in control of what’s in your food. With only eight ingredients and a Vitamix, you can whip this together rather quickly. The only thing that requires patience is combining the ingredients and letting them sit for 48 hours, before blending them into mustard.
This recipe makes a heaping two cups worth of whole grain mustard, so you will have plenty for any which way you decide to use it. Try using it in some Rosemary Balsamic Dressing, or on an avocado, tomato, cucumber sandwich. I’m making myself hungry just writing about it. Go ahead and pull that grill out one more time and throw one more BBQ, your new Spicy Whole Grain Mustard will be a hit, especially when you tell them you made it yourself!
